LASER HAIR REMOVAL
NOW YOU ARE ALWAYS READY!
WHAT IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
Throw out the razors and forget about waxing! Now you can be ready at a moment’s notice with the luxury of a silky-smooth and ready-for-anything skin all the year round. Laser hair removal is the magical wand every woman has always dreamt of, proven to be the most effective yet safe way to eliminate unwanted hairs from the face, leg, chin, back, arm, underarm, bikini line, and other areas. It utilizes state-of-the-art light technology to target the hair follicles deep within the skin, where other hair removal methods cannot reach. These hair follicles are responsible for producing hairs so by altering them, this treatment can give you smooth, hairless skin.
What to expect during the application?
Just before the procedure, your hair that will be undergoing treatment will be trimmed to a few millimeters above the skin surface. Usually a topical numbing cream is applied 20- 30 minutes before the laser procedure, to help with the sting of the laser pulses. Afterwards the area to be treated will be cleansed and held taut then the laser works by directing concentrated light (pulses) – that feel like warm pinpricks- into the hair follicle inhibiting the hair’s ability to grow without disrupting or damaging the skin’s surface. This takes place after adjusting the laser machine according to the color, thickness, and location of your hair being treated as well as your skin color. The whole procedure takes place in a room set up specifically for laser treatments where everyone there must wear a protective eyewear.
How do you prepare?
If you are planning on undergoing laser hair removal, you should stop plucking and waxing for six weeks before treatment. That’s because the laser targets the hairs’ roots, which are temporarily removed by waxing or plucking. Avoid direct prolonged sun exposure 2 weeks before your treatment. Stay out of direct sunlight for at least 3 days prior to your appointment. Come to your appointment with no makeup, lotions, deodorants on the treatment area.
How long does a Laser hair treatment take?
The duration depends on the size of the area being treated. Treating the upper lip takes minutes whereas having a large area or a total body hair removal session, your treatment may last more than an hour.
Post treatment instructions
It is normal for the treated area to feel like a sunburn for few hours after the treatment so you should use a cold compress if the sensitivity continues. You might also experience redness & bumps immediately after your treatment that might last up to 2 hours which is quite normal too. To avoid any possible side affects you are advised to protect the treated areas from direct sun exposure and stay away from any tanning activities for at least one-week post treatment. You may wash the treated area gently with a mild soap but take care to avoid picking or scratching them during the first 48 hours. During the course of your laser treatments it is very important to avoid any other hair removal method or product, other than shaving, on the treated area, as it will prevent you from achieving the best results.
How many treatments are required?
The number of sessions it takes for laser hair removal to work with optimum results varies from one person to another, however for most patients it ranges from 2 to 6 laser treatments. After finishing the treatments, most patients do not see any hair on the treated skin for several months or even years. When some of the hair regrows, it will likely be less noticeable. To keep the area free of hair, you may need maintenance laser treatments.
Expected results:
Results vary and depend on several factors. These include the areas being treated and fluctuating hormonal levels. However, after completing a course of 6 sessions (every 6-8 weeks apart), most people achieve a 100% hair loss on the treated areas leaving them with a smoother super silky skin. On the face, more sessions might be required as there are more hair follicles and a faster hair growth cycle.
